Welcome to my PhotoBlog

"The ultimate wisdom of the photographic image is to say:  "There is the surface.  Now think-or rather feel, intuit- what is beyond it, what the reality must be like if it looks this way."  Photographs which cannot themselves explain anything, are inexhaustible invitations to deduction, speculation and fantasy."

Things Have Changed

This image was taken from the same spot as the one of two posts ago only this time looking northwest. The dormers and adjoining wall below are actually a facade on the John Labbat Centre which was built a few short years ago. They were preserved as a compromise when the heritage people protested that the loss of the historic Talbot Block buildings was unacceptable.

Things Have Changed is by Bob Dylan who I saw two and a half years ago in this same building. Watch the video on YouTube.

Reminds me of our laws in Vienna. You can't easily put another story on an old buildding, but you can develop the attic and extend the roof. Thus the buildings grow strange roofs that go vertical for about one or two stories. When it began, it looked obvious that cheating is going on, but today it's normal. When every house looks like that, it almost becomes a style :)

I guess I should document that .
